Run, Run As Fast As You Can....

On Friday, Z and I got to accompany T and his class on a pretty fun adventure.  It's a kindergarten tradition around these parts.  It was the annual Gingerbread Man Hunt.  On Thursday, T and his class mixed up the giant cookie and dropped it off at the "big oven" in the school's kitchen.  But, on Friday when we went as a group to pick it up, the strangest thing had happened.  That feisty little ginger dude had run away!  And so began the group's hunt around the school in search of their snack.  So cute!

Here they are listening to a version of the Gingerbread Man - this one was called the Gingerbread Girl (they read the classic version, along with lots of other versions of the story throughout the week).
And here they are at the kitchen, hearing for the first time that their gingerbread man had gone missing.
As they hunted around the school, it was so fun to hear them explain to the adults they encountered what the problem was.  "We lost our gingerbread man!"  "Have you seen him?"  "He's about this big and he's brown and he has skittles for buttons!"  "He says, 'Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!".  Oh, they were such good little detectives.
Finally, they found that rogue cookie on my desk (which is why I was invited to be a part of the hunt).  One of my coworkers who I share my room with told the kids that that cookie had been so wild, doing cartwheels and somersaults and the like, that she had had to tell him many times to please be quiet.  In fact, he had been so wild that he had worn himself out and now he was taking a little snooze on the pan on my desk.  T really got a kick out of that part.
After locating the snoozing cookie, T and his class quietly returned to their classroom with their treat in tow.  Here they are with their hunted treasure - just shortly before they got to eat him up.  T said he was SUPER YUMMY!
