An Afternoon at the Museum

We scored another Passport to Play from the library last week so on Friday afternoon, following our Gingerbread Man adventure, we headed up to the MN Children's Museum for a picnic lunch and a few hours of fun.  It was uncharacteristically not busy so we really got to enjoy the exhibits and activities to our hearts' desire.  There was a new exhibit in one of the rooms that we had never explored before.  It was called Storyland and it featured six children's classics and lots of interactive activities to coincide with the books.  The Chicka Chicka Boom Boom portion was a favorite.  Here, on a small conveyor belt, we matched upper case letters to lower case letters, watched them climb to the top of the coconut tree and then come crashing down (I only had my phone along so I apologize for the quality of the photos).

Not too surprisingly, the steel drums in this area were also a hit with this guy.
In The Snowy Day area, we got to play in a replica of Peter's bedroom and also enjoyed following his snow tracks and actually hearing the crunch of the "snow" underneath our feet.

We made cookies for the fun loving mouse in Laura Numeroff's If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

and then wrote him a letter.
We hunted for Spot,

delivered a newscast and made some calls in the Tuesday area,

and explored Lady Liberty in the Abuela exhibit.
The rest of the afternoon was filled with some of our "old favorites" -

Lots of grocery shopping in the market,
Working as a school patrol in the town square,
Moving lots of "packages" in the factory,

and of course, decorating faces with face paint.

Such fun!
