So, as has been previously mentioned, we've been doing a bit of room rearranging in preparation for the baby's arrival. The first item of business was transforming our guest room into T's new space. The transformation included a new paint job as well as the installation of a wardrobe/closet system from
IKEA. The existing room did not have a closet but rather the previous owners had chosen to put a lot of built-in bookshelves where a closet would have been as they used this space as an office. This layout worked fine when it was a guest room. We had simply purchased a small
armoire that suited the needs of our guests just dandy. However, when we decided to move T into that room, we knew a larger storage option was necessary. We contemplated building a closet but after some advice from a friend (thanks,
JB), we decided to go with the closet system. We were able to customize the inside to meet T's needs, which included putting drawers right in the unit, thus eliminating the need for a dresser in the room. So, without further
adieu, here's a look at T's new room from the doorway.

The big highlight for T, of course, is the wall with the "BIG RED STAR" and accompanying flags. When these two elements were combined with the upgrade from a twin size bed to a queen size bed, his new room was an easy sell!

Here's a look at the other side of the room....complete with T's drum set, of course.

And here's a peek at the new closet. It is actually two wardrobe units side by side. Once the built-in bookshelves were removed, the unit fit into the existing opening pretty much perfectly. So far, the new set up is working out great.

Here's a look inside the unit on the left (two hanging bars and two drawers)......

and a glance at the contents of the unit on the right (one more hanging bar and drawer and then some shelving for toys and other miscellaneous items.

New Space #1: Complete!

That is fabulous.
Just like one of those home makeover shows!
Wow! What a great looking room. I LOVE the T Star and flags on the wall. And that wardrobe fits perfectly and has some storage too. Looks like you're pretty ready for the big event...maybe this will encourage the little lady to make an early appearance???? :)
