6 Down....47 To Go!

Well, my slightly unorthodox training routine paid off!
(To refresh your memory, click here).
John Davis, Bill Totenhagen, Rhett Hazel, Jeff Risbrudt, Joe Kavlie and I (Michael) just survived a whirlwind trip out to Colorado to climb two 14,000 foot mountains. Last Wednesday, we flew out to Denver to tackle the two highest 14ers Colorado has to offer. After camping at its base Wednesday night, the next morning at 4:00 AM we headed out for the summit of Mt.Massive, the second highest peak in Colorado and the third highest point in the lower 48 states. Thirteen miles and 10 and a half hours of hiking later, we returned to our camp successful. The NEXT DAY... again, at 4:00 am, we started our day, this time with the goal of hiking up Mt. Elbert, the highest point in Colorado and the second highest in the lower 48. Eight hours later, we returned to the trail head, having bagged our second peak in two days...Maybe wouldn't recommend attempting two 14'ers in two days but the trip was awesome!

Only 47 14'ers to go. Future trips are being planned as we speak. Let me know if you want in on the action.
