Z is Special!

At Z's school, each child gets one day a year that is designated as their Special Day.  It's a pretty big deal to the kiddos and our Z has patiently been waiting for her day to come.  This past Wednesday was the much anticipated day.  Along with a host of special privileges and responsibilities, Z also got to invite me into her classroom for the last part of her morning.  We brought special treats in for her class (she chose cookies with frosting and sprinkles).  In addition, while I was there, she got a trip to the treasure chest to pick out a prize,

led calendar time (I think she was so excited for everything that she had a little trouble remembering the name of the month!),
 did the counting box,
called her friends by name to the table for snack, chose the prayer they said before snack,
had a special place decorated for her at the snack table, had a song sung to her,
led the pledge of allegiance, and then concluded the day with me reading one of her favorite stories (Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready For Kindergarten) to her class.  It was definitely a special day to honor a special little lady!
