Winter Wonderland

Well, in case you haven't heard, we're having a massive storm here in friendly MN. Many things are closed (including the airport at the moment) so you know this storm is a whopper (it takes a lot to close things around these parts). After finding out that the kiddos Christmas program practice was cancelled this morning, we decided to load up and head down to Pake and Beppe's place (I know that sentence doesn't make a lot of sense but I have a very determined husband who wanted to experience the blizzard out at the lake - I chose not to look out the window while we drove but rather kept my nose buried in the book I was reading to the kids). Thankfully, we arrived safe and sound before the brunt of the storm hit and we are now tucked cozily into the house watching the world around us be whipped into a sea of white. Before the temperatures plummeted and the winds reached blizzard force, M and T ventured outside, with their snowshoes in tow, to explore the vast and deep powder. Here's a peek at their adventures!

First off, here's a look at M before he headed out to try and plow the driveway....I say try because as fast as he could clear it, the wind would whip up new drifts. He was a fighter though and I would declare him the winner :)
He was then the first one to head out and play (though driving my dad's John Deere tractor plow was a little bit of play for him, too, I think).

T decided that Dad was having way too much fun by himself so he donned his snow gear and joined him.

Here's a look at how deep the snow in the backyard is when T was not wearing snowshoes (pretty much thigh high).

Making some snow angels...
A little taste test...
Off they go towards the lake...
And good ole' Dad to the rescue when the trek back up the hill just got to be too much.
There you have it! And for those of you who are wondering...no, we are not driving home in this. We are camping out here tonight :)
