Pet Ownership

You will be happy (and maybe a tad bit relieved) to know that Toot and Puddle are still alive and kickin' at our house. Though the novelty of pet ownership has worn off a bit (T no longer reads them stories at night - though he did paint them a picture today), the responsibilities that come along with owning a pet are not seen as a negative thing by T but rather a privilege and a ton of fun. Granted, there is not a lot to do in order to care for fish. We simply feed them once a day and clean their bowl once a week. T has gotten quite good at the feeding part - he now understands about how much food needs to be shaken into the bowl each day and is able to do so independently (though I am always watching just to make sure the fish are not overfed). He is also becoming more handy with cleaning the bowl as well. T rinses the stones from the bowl and then places (or tosses) them back into the clean water and with the recent purchase of a real fish net, this week he successfully captured both fish in the net, at the same time, from their holding tank (i.e., a glass measuring cup) and carefully placed them back in their clean new home. Oh, and he also bought them a starfish from the zoo yesterday to, in his words, "decorate their house with". Keep it up, T, and you just might be ready for that puppy some day :)
