Big Girl Business

Before you read into these pictures too far, let me be quick to clarify that we are not initiating potty training with a 19-month-old nor are we expending any great effort into the task. That being said, true to her independent nature and her fierce determination to keep up with her big brother, Little Miss Z has been "asking" us for about a month or two to sit on the potty. Granted, she can't formulate the question in a manner that many would understand, but in her own little way, she communicates to us that she, too, wants to use the potty. Oh, and apparently going to the bathroom also involves reading a book because she always carries one with her into the bathroom when she feels she needs to take care of business. When all this first started, I decided to pull the potty chair out of hiding and I set it next to the larger version in our bathroom. However, true to her very strong desire to be a BIG girl, Z kept pounding on the big potty, letting us know that she meant business and did not want or need to be babied :)So, whenever she does ask, we have started obliging. And that's as far as it goes. She has yet to actually make any deposits in the potty....but I am certainly not going to squelch her interest - so we just praise her for trying. She does often tell us when she is wet or dirty so, who knows, maybe we will make a go of it sometime this summer. I'm not in a big hurry, but right now, it seems that Z might be :) Slow down, little lady. Slow down!
