An Underwater Adventure

On Monday, after returning from the big birthday weekend, because Auntie Erin and Beppe were still around and I am off on Mondays, we decided to head out on a little morning adventure. T is very curious about sea creatures lately and has been asking to go to Underwater Adventure at the Mall of America for quite awhile now. So, we decided that Monday would be the day. It was quite a lot of fun! The majority of the aquarium has a tunnel of glass running through it so we really felt like we were under the sea with all of the creatures. The tunnel allowed us to see many of the animals from a very different vantage point than we had experienced before. For example, I had never seen the underside of sting ray before. It was pretty cool to see this one just hanging out right above our heads. They also had a touch pool filled with starfish, one of the sea creatures that T is most fond of. He took this picture of one.....and also this one (appropriately named a Chocolate Chip Sea Star)....and was also quite interested in finding out what these little critters feel like. The highlight of the adventure, though, were the sea turtles, well, just one in particular actually. Our first walk through the tunnel we hardly got to even see one. But after eating some lunch at the mall, we decided to take advantage of our all day admission to the aquarium and took one more pass through the tunnel. We sure were glad we did, too, because this time around we got an up close and personal encounter with one of them. She just hung out right in front of us and really seemed to be playing with us. It was very cool!
