Meal Prep

One of the most challenging times of day for me is the 4-5 o'clock hour. While I am in the midst of attempting to put together a meal for the evening, it seems that, for whatever reason, my kiddos desperately need my attention and simply are incapable of keeping themselves occupied without harassing one another or getting into trouble. We have been making some progress in this area lately, though, due in large part to my new best friend, Mr. Playdoh. Z has taken a great liking to it and actually manages to play with it rather than place it in her mouth (most of the time). This past week she sat in her highchair mushing and molding the dough for 30-45 minutes on 3 separate days. At the same time, T keeps himself busy "doing art" at the kitchen counter - it's been fabulous. Since they are right there in the kitchen with me, their need to be with me is met while at the same time, leaving my hands free to make some dinner. I know it is nothing revolutionary but it sure has transformed this tricky time of day for me.
