A Little Renaissance Man

As T gets bigger, it is quite fun to learn about those little quirks that just seem to be a part of who he is. One of these interesting traits is T's love for music. For as much as he enjoys playing baseball in the backyard, playing "tackle" and "fumble" with Daddy in the living room and shooting hoops wherever, T also has an intense interest in music. He loves learning about instruments and listening to all types of music. He is especially curious about bands and orchestras and of recent, is really into pretending to be a conductor. We're not exactly sure where this idea came from. I think it might have something to do with some books we've read from the library, a Baby Einstein DVD called, "Meet the Orchestra" (also from the library) and a recent Curious George episode he watched in which George wins a contest and gets to be a guest conductor for an orchestra. Whatever the case, it can be quite entertaining (at least to his parents) to watch him listen intently to a song, try to find the beat and then wave his little arms as if he is truly conducting the piece. Yesterday, Michael downloaded the "1812 Overture, Op. 49 (finale)" from Itunes and played it for T. He LOVED it and immediately began directing the orchestra that was playing inside our laptop. Then, to top it all off, the song that just happened to come next in our Itunes library was a live recording of a song that starts out with a lot of clapping and cheering. So, when T finished his performance, he was greeted with a rousing round of applause - which if you know T, you know that he enjoys being the recipient of clapping and cheering almost as much as he loves flags! It was hilarious! Last night before bedtime, T asked for the song again and this time Michael was able to capture his performance on the camera. Here's the last little bit of it for your viewing pleasure.

PS: The bow at the end of the song was totally unprompted.
