Our New Neighbor

The other day when Michael returned home from school and walked up onto our front porch, he was greeted by a little creature who has moved in and made herself at home right here:Her greeting was more of a fly-by-in-your-face type of hello and it seems that she has decided that our decorative tin basket is the perfect spot to build a nest for her four little ones that are waiting to hatch. So now, each time before we walk out our front door, we give a little tap on the window to let this mama know we're coming. She quickly flies out to one of the trees in our front yard and we are then safe to depart without any type of unwanted encounter. I have not yet gotten a good picture of the mama bird, but she seems to hang out in our tree with this little guy quite a bit.I'm not exactly sure what will happen when the eggs hatch.....I'm hoping that things won't get messy. I guess we'll just wait and watch.

G1 thinks it's great that you have a bird nest at your house! She has been learning about birds at school and finds them very interesting.

You provided a lovely home for Mama Finch. You'll have to keep us posted on the hatch!
