Let It Snow! FINALLY!!

It finally happened. With only hours to spare before the calendar flipped to 2007, it really happened. Winter arrived....real winter, that is. MN style. After days of clouds and rain that made us question whether it was December or April, the temperatures finally dipped below that magic freezing mark and our rain drops turned into big white flakes. Before we knew it, we were under a Winter Storm Warning. T was mesmorized by the whir of white. He stood and watched for many minutes (that's a long time for T to stand still). When we went to bed on the Eve of the New Year, the snow had stopped but the blustery winds were still blowing.

When we awoke this morning, we were greeted by clear blue skies, calm winds and relatively mild temperatures. So, we suited up and headed outside. There was a definite learning curve for T as he donned his snow gear for the first time. Steering those big boots of his proved a bit challenging. He took countless tumbles in the snow. Thankfully, the winter cushion was very forgiving and the spirit of this little one, not easily broken.

When T needed a break from his trekking, Dad was there to serve as his chauffeur. T's vehicle of choice, a snappy blue sled that Mom got on clearance last year at Target for $1.98.

Auntie E and Lazlo (who are visiting us for the next week or so) even decided to brave the elements and joined us for some frolicking out back.

Quite suprisingly, Lazlo seemed to love the snow, darting here and there and everywhere around our yard.

When he decided that he was too chilled, he simply found a friendly place (or person) to perch on to warm his frosty paws.

T's first snow adventure came to a screeching halt when one of his many tumbles resulted in a chilling face plant into the snow. He didn't take it too well, but after some consoling from Mom, he was just fine and in true one-year-old form, pitched a bit of a fit when it was time to go inside. Kids. Gotta love 'em.
